Chu Shu is seeking out Chilean artists to collaborate with a series of eco-friendly tote bags. All artists are welcome to submit their work for consideration. Please see details below:

Project Mission
Our team was invited to work in Santiago, Chile through Start-Up Chile, an accelerator program sponsored by the Chilean government. We’d like to give back to the Chilean community and continue to promote creative thinking and innovation by collaborating with local artists and charities.

Project Details
We’re asking all Chilean artists to submit your work for consideration. It’s a chance for you to get your designs in front of a US audience and bring awareness to your community! The selected design(s) will be featured on a series of limited-edition, eco-friendly tote bags. The selected artist(s) will choose a Chilean charity to work with, and all profits from these tote bags will go to this charity. The bags, featuring your artwork, will be sold on our site, www.silverliningsnewyork.com, and your name (and website or online portfolio, if available) will be mentioned in all of our marketing materials and communications.

The deadline for the first edition of bags is June 1, although submissions for later editions will continue to be accepted.

Project Guidelines
1. The bags are intended to bring awareness to Chile, and the submissions should highlight some aspect of Chile.
2. Submissions should also represent the artist’s style and work, as the audience that sees these bags may decide to the visit artist’s website or online portfolio.
3. The designs will be 10 inches X 10 inches (or 220 cm X 220 cm) in size.
4. The designs will be silkscreened onto canvas bags. Spot colors will come out the best. Gradients will be more difficult to print. Lines and fonts should be at least 1pt in size.
5. The bags will be canvas totes, approximately 15 inches high X 10 inches wide (or 330 cm X 220cm). The color of the bag will be a light blue.
6. This is not a commercial project — all profits are going to charity. Artists will not be financially compensated for this project. Artists may be compensated for other commercial projects that arise afterwards.

It seemed to be the trend; the sight of a beautiful woman made us want to buy Chanel No.5 to arouse our man. But now the tables have turned. The site of Brad Pitt is apparently so powerful that we will buy the scent because he arouses us.

I can’t say that I disagree with Chanel’s mind-set on this one. Brad Pitt does actually fit the mold when it comes to the household Chanel tradition. He is so very classic, so very seductive, therefore, so very Chanel.

Well done Brad, you are the first male to represent Chanel No.5 and you are amongst the likes of Nicole Kidman, Audrey Tautou, Vanessa Paradis, Ali MacGraw and Lauren Hutton. I can’t wait to see the campaign; in the meantime here is a walk down memory lane with previous Chanel No. 5 ads.

In this day and age, there are a variety of options you have to get all the music you want that don’t involve paying for each song via iTunes. All these streaming music …

Stream your music and save your wallet. In this day and age, there are a variety of options you have to get all the music you want that don’t involve paying for each song via iTunes. All these streaming music stations have free music plans with advertisements, or your can pay just a little and be commercial free. A range of prices, with the highest price still only $10 a month. Less than the last drink I ordered at a bar! The best thing is that with the $10 plans, you can play your music on all your devices – car to home to subway train. Yes that’s right, even the subway. The song will be backed up on your device until you come up for air.

Mog, Grooveshark, Rhapsody and Spotify all offer between 10-20 million song in all genres imaginable. They will cover the country cruner to your rock rager. HOWEVER, sorry British Invasion enthusiasts, the Beatles still haven’t licensed out their music to any of these streaming music stations. Here are some of my favorite options that you should give a shot before heading back to iTunes:

Pandora: Launched in 2005, Pandora is perfect for the radio lover. This site makes it so easy to create a station and just enjoy the music! Capitalizing on “musicological DNA” and constant user feedback, Pandora incorporates your “likes” or “dislikes” of songs to tailor your stations perfectly to your taste. The nice thing about Pandora is that it works with just about every cell phone carrier.

Spotify: The 4 year old company designed its interface to cater to the iTunes user, but with new and innovative apps that reflect your music style. My favorite feature is the personalized concert calendars, all based on your song choices. With its user friendly interface and streaming music, no wonder it has had over 400,000 paying users since it’s U.S. launch in July. Spotify allows social networking to direct more of your music and lets your friends suggest new songs off of your playlist. Just beware when you’re in a weird Backstreet Boys place or Fiona Apple, your friends can see your playlist!

Songza: The great thing about Songza is that it takes away the tension to pick the perfect playlist – just rely on the playlists that are already created. Are you having a Parisian Brunch? Girls Night Out? Makeout session? or just a case of the Mondays? Each song list is hand picked by someone to fit any mood! Check out the “iTunes commercials” station – you’ll love it!

Grooveshark: Search for your own songs, create playlists or just rely on one song to create a radio genre. The best part is that it highlights under the radar artists when you’re looking for something to broaden your musical interests. Launched 6 years ago, 20 million paying and premium users streaming music can’t be wrong. This is a great site.

Now you’re prepared, so get out there and go main stream!

My mother always said to keep my hair off my face and this summer I intend to do so with these three on trend hairstyles:

Top knot: Seen on both the spring 2012 runways and celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Richie and Vanessa Hudgens, this style is easy, quick and requires no skill whatsoever. The messier the better and pull a few strands out around the frame of your face to loosen the look.

Hair wrap: This bohemian style is bold and may not be everyone’s go-to style but it instantly updates your look and can add color and pop to your outfit. This hairstyle is perfect for those bad hair days or when the humidity is in full gear as it quickly tames that mane! Silk scarves can also be used to create this look if you can’t fully commit to purchasing a turban or wrap.

Updo braid: This is by far the trickiest style of the three. This romantic look is great for a summer wedding or just a dinner out. Depending on your hair-type and cut this style can require quite a few bobby pins to hold it in place. Instead of filling your head with simple metal pins, I suggest using more embellished styles to add some sparkle or color.

April showers bring May flowers and one of the most important holidays of the year – Mother’s Day. Originated long ago in ancient Greece in celebration of Rhea, the mother of the gods, Mother’s Day has since evolved and expanded into other cultures. It officially became a holiday in the U.S. in 1914 under President Woodrow Wilson who announced that it would be held annually on the second Sunday in May. Almost one hundred years later, Mother’s Day is now celebrated across the world.

Every year it seems to creep up on me and I panic for last minute gift ideas. Well this year will be different. Since I can’t be there on Sunday May 13, I have to think further in advance to figure out a gift this year. Each mom is different but the thought is what counts so if you can’t find that perfect something, there’s always a card to do the trick. To all the mothers out there, happy early Mother’s Day! As I’ve been told, it’s one of the hardest jobs out there so sit back, relax and enjoy the day dedicated to you.

Here are a few of my picks. You have 2 weeks left so get shopping!

LEGOs have been the toy of choice for kids for the past 100 years, but now, adults have found a unique way to put them to use. Street art has been a popular form of expression for years and recently, LEGOs have been popping up on the scene.

Jan Vormann is one German artist who spent years traveling the world repairing cracks and crumbles with LEGOs from places like Berlin, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv and, most recently, New York.

For the inner kid in all of us, I hope the Lego trend is here to stay.

Some LEGO fun facts:
- LEGO comes from Danish words “leg godt” meaning “play well”. Incidentally, LEGO also means “I put together” in Latin.
- Every year, about 19 billion LEGO bricks are produced. That translates to 2.16 million LEGO elements are molded every hour, or 36,000 per minute!
- On average, children around the world spend 5 billion hours a year playing with LEGO bricks.
- Record setting – The World’s tallest LEGO tower stood at 94.3 ft (28.7 m) with 465,000 bricks
- There are 44 LEGO stores in the world.

Music festivals are now in full swing with back-to-back weekends of Coachella in California. Think warm weather, live music and a crowd of people that never ends. Since Woodstock, music festivals have become a real-life runway where you can take a risk, have fun and be free. Synonymous with crochet, crop-tops, cut-offs and fringe, these festivals are a fashion haven where anything goes. It seems that everyone from college students to celebrities like Kate Bosworth use these festivals as a way to reveal their inner hippie style.

I’ve never been to any festival as big as Coachella but with being in Chicago and feeling like I was missing out last summer, I’ve already purchased the full three days at Lollapalooza. Below are a few of my favorite pieces for the perfect festival ensemble. I plan to take full advantage of the creative liberty during the entire weekend. Peace, love and fashion – - right?

If you didn’t get tickets to Coachella, there are plenty of other festivals coming up through early Fall. Popular events include, Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball and of course Lollapalooza.

Remember when you had a bulletin board to stay organized or collect magazine clippings that were inspiring, motivating or just beautiful? Well now with the internet and the endless amount of information we’re exposed to on a daily basis it makes no sense to save and print paper over and over again just so that it can collect dust. Therefore Pinterest was established and since it was founded in 2010 it’s taken off. Pinterest isn’t new, but as of late the buzz around the site has hit an all-time high.

Companies, bloggers, artists and brides-to-be have come to use Pinterest as their own personal scrapbook. The only difference is that you’re constantly sharing your ideas while being inspired by others as well. I think Pinterest will only expand as it become more popular because bloggers, companies and brides-to-be (of course) will find new ways to use the platform. I just hope it doesn’t evolve too much and like the bulletin boards you had as a teen, it remains yours and yours only – pinned the way you like it.
